Artist Statement
I am a Florida native...second generation, and I love “natural”
Florida. The river banks, the beaches, the trees, sunrises and sunsets all
make me feel like painting. This series is all about Florida landscapes.
My medium is acrylic and these paintings are mostly done with a palette
knife and some brushwork on textured canvas. All of these pieces have a
cadmium red light under-painting which give them an over all warm feel and
energy. They are all studies from life…..trying to capture the moment.
My study of painting began in high school, followed by a long, long period
of no painting at all. In 2002 I began studying under
Trish Thompson, the painting teacher at Daytona Beach Community
College. What a terrific program! What a caring teacher! Now my painter’s
resume’ includes several private shows and commissioned pieces.
